Hi, I’m Simon and I’ve attended the 2012 Sogang Korean Immersion Program. Even though I was born in Korea, I did not have a chance to go back to Korea for 22 years.
I was raised in LA with many Koreans but I forgot to speak Korean as time went by. As I wanted to go back to Korea and learn the language, I found out about Sogang Korean Immersion Program through internet.
When I arrived in Sogang University in July, everyone including the staff and assistants were all very kind and caring. So I did not have to worry about many things.
I realized my Korean is not competent enough as the classes were difficult than I expected. But the classes were always fun and I was never bored.
In the beginning, I couldn’t even write a short memo in Korean but now I can write long letters with improved vocabulary skills and speaking ability.
The most valuable experience was learning Korean culture. We went to the Leeum Museum, completed various missions, went to a field trip outside of Seoul and learned how to cook. Among those, the baseball game of Doosan Bears was most memorable!
I truly had an unforgettable time in Korea: learning Korean language and culture, making friends to remember.
If you want to learn Korean language and culture consider Korean Immersion Program as your choice!
I will cherish the memory in Sogang. I miss Korea! Bye!
